Sunday Reset Routine: What It Is And Why You Should Try It

Sunday reset routine

If you are interested in self-care and wellness and are on Tiktok, you have probably noticed at least one Sunday reset video. You know, those videos of girls with minimalistic or clean girl aesthetic making their beds, doing their laundry, tidying their already clean houses, and restocking for their week ahead.

But does a Sunday reset really help or are people just making videos about it for likes on social media?

Today I am going to look into this growing self-care trend, so you can decide if a Sunday reset could make a good addition to your self-care routine.

What is a Sunday Reset?

Sunday Reset videos first started to get popular on Tiktok with people restocking their pantries and fridges for ASMR videos. Multiple videos started popping up of people refilling juice boxes into their designated organizer with a satisfying sound, or throwing bags of veggie straws into their basket in the pantry. This ended up expanding into other niches like house cleaning, laundry, and self-care.

Now a Sunday Reset has become about resetting yourself and your home to prepare for the week ahead.

What are the benefits of a Sunday Reset?

Starting your own Sunday Reset routine can give you the chance to prepare for the week ahead. It can also help you:

  • Have time to reflect on the previous week
  • Stay on top of your household chores
  • Organize your to-do list
  • Take time to focus on yourself
  • Have a fresh start for the week ahead

How to create a Sunday Reset Routine

Everyone will have a different reset routine based on their own personal needs, goals, and lifestyle. However, it is important to make sure you have a mixture of restful and productive activities to get the most out of your day.

Start by reflecting on the week behind you and tying up any loose ends. Do some laundry, wash your sheets, finish any tasks remaining on your to-do list. Next, take a look at the week ahead and what your goals and priorities are for the week. This should help you decide where your focus needs to be.

It is completely fine to shuffle around the order of your tasks each Sunday, or to add or remove tasks as you see fit. A Sunday Reset Routine is supposed to be completely customizable.

Sunday Reset Routine Ideas

If you are still stuck on what types of things you want to include in your own Sunday Reset Routine, here are some ideas for you to choose from:

Do your laundry

Sunday is a great day to wash all the laundry that you have accumulated throughout the week. Climbing into nice clean sheets also makes the perfect ending to a Sunday reset.

Tackle some cleaning

Starting the week off fresh with a clean house will help your environmental self-care, and help to keep stress levels low. If you don’t have time for a deep clean, you could always just tidy up, wipe down surfaces, and take out the trash, and leave a deep clean for a day when you have more time.

Finish last week’s to-do list

Sunday is a great time to reflect on the week that has passed and ensure you have finished your previous to-do-list. If there is anything remaining, see if you can complete it now. Now is a good time to tackle things like paying bills, sending out letters, returning online purchases, or even opening all your mail.

Plan your week ahead

Take a moment to plan out what your week ahead looks like. Do you have any meetings or appointments? Any important deadlines? Figure out what tasks need to get done throughout the week and then prioritize them based on urgency.

Meal prep

If eating healthy is something that is important to you, or you have a busy week ahead, it can be a great idea to spend some time meal prepping for the week. This can help keep you on track when it comes to your wellness goals, but can also take the stress off your shoulders when it comes to trying to figure out what to make for meals during the coming week.

Get your body moving

I like to get my body moving every day and Sunday is no exception. Sunday is a great day for some yoga, a workout video, a walk through the park with a friend or your dog.. Whatever suits you.

Water your plants

If you are a plant person Sunday is a good day to get in the habit of watering them.

Take an extensive shower or bath

On Sundays, I like to take a longer self-care shower and bath combo. I will do a hair and face mask and read a book while I let it sit for a while, then I shower and do a full body scrub. After I will let myself sit and relax in a bubble bath for a while, for a bit of extra pampering. When I am done I do a bit of a longer skincare routine and lotion the rest of my body.

Have a relaxing evening

If I have played my cards right and timed things out I usually have finished my Sunday routine before supper. On Sundays I will usually treat myself by ordering supper in and washing whatever trashy television show I need to catch up on, so this is a great time to treat yourself and take some time to yourself.
